Ryo Kusumoto
Photographer / Videographer
Ryo Kusumoto(b.1982, Tokushima) studied Biotechnology at the graduate school of Tokushima University. He started his career as a photographer while working as a pharmaceutical developer. Since 2011, he has been working as an independent photographer.
In 2014, he got selected awards of The 15th Hikoma Ueno award, and his work “bow” was exhibited in Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre and so on. In 2016, he exhibited “voice of Shakuson”, about a traditional ink painter, in the Ryosokuin, sub-temple within the grounds of Kennin-ji temple in Kyoto. In 2017, he was awarded the 2nd prize of the Yonosuke Natori photo award sponsored by Japan professional photographers society.
His 1st artist book “Renjishi” was shortlisted for the Unseen dummy award 2018, cosmos pdf award 2019, Fiebre dummy award 2019 and SIPF Photo Book Open call 2020. Currently, it is in the collection of Musée de l'Elysée (Switzerland) and other museums in several countries.
